Camel race is one of the first traditional sports in the UAE and it is linked to with the Emirates heritage because of that it became an important event in the UAE. The annual camel race festival in the UAE at Al Wathba is one of the biggest events that attract people from all over the world.  Unlike now camels were controlled by child jockeys and they were children between the age of 6 and 10 because of their light weight in there was a lot of injured children who fallen of camels until it was banned. Sheihk Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the one who ban the use of children under the age of 15 in 2002. Nowadays, falconry is practiced purely for sports. One of the most important events in falconry was in 2003 when Sheikh Mohammed falcon remarkably brought down a deer many time its weight it was the first time a falcon take down a deer.

Dhow racing in the UAE is also a traditional sport. There is two major events in the UAE for dhow racing the Mubarraz Island marine sport festival to promote the country’s marine sports heritage. The other one Al Gaffal Dhow race the most anticipated traditional boat race around 3000 participants sailing the water of the gulf. Every year Dubai host the Dubai World Cup for horse racing and Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid has said to the public that the UAE did not win a lot of sports achievements except horses racing because this sport is important in the UAE and in Arab Countries because it is linked with our culture and heritage. The first award that Mohamed bin Rashid won in house racing was in 1977. In 1994 he open Godolphin company from it all people in world realize that he loves the horse. Godolphin has won the richest race in the world. The leader for the endurance team in the UAE is Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid alongside his sons they won a lot of international races.

The United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee was formed in 1979. The UAE has competed in the Olympic Games seven times. They never participated in the winter games. They have won a medal one golden medal in 2004 summer Olympics in Greece. The medal was won by Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum in the men’s double trap shooting event it was the first and only golden medal that the UAE had won up until now. The UAE made a training school for the children to enroll so that we get more awards in the future.

Formula one is now one of the modern sports in the UAE. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is a formula one race. In 2007 the Abu Dhabi F1 festival in the UAE it was announced.
